This sermon was preached at OneChurch HB, September 29, 2024. The text is John 18:33-40.

As we enter into a contentious and difficult election cycle, my heart has been extremely burdened by the witness of Christians on both sides of the aisle. 

The Church has no hope if it is not carefully tethered to Jesus’ own example of engaging with politics. Jesus himself said this. There are few passages of Scripture that reveal Jesus’ heart towards politics quite like the one we have before us.

John. 18:33-40.

Now, we are going to work through this passage, as usual, with two (kind of three) main points: 

  1. Pilate’s Question. 
  2. Jesus’ Twofold Answer.
